Hadith #181
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ بَعَثَتْهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقِنَاعٍ عَلَيْهِ رُطَبٌ فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُ قَبْضَتَهُ فَيَبْعَثُ بِهَا إِلَى بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ وَيَقْبِضُ الْقَبْضَةَ فَيَبْعَثُ بِهَا إِلَى بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَأَكَلَ بَقِيَّتَهُ أَكْلَ رَجُلٍ يُعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ يَشْتَهِيهِ
English Translation
'Abd al-Samad narrated from Hammam, from Qatadah, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) that Umm Sulaym sent him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a tray of dates. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began distributing them with his hand. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Convey to Umm Sulaym from me that her gift has reached me, and that this is my gift to her' — and he returned the tray to her with the remaining dates.
