Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْكَبَائِرَ أَوْ سُئِلَ عَنْ الْكَبَائِرِ فَقَالَ الشِّرْكُ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ

وَجَلَّ وَقَتْلُ النَّفْسِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَقَالَ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قَالَ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَالَ شَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَكْبَرُ ظَنِّي أَنَّهُ قَالَ شَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us: 'Ubaydullah ibn Abi Bakr narrated to me, he said: I heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) say: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the major sins — or was asked about the major sins — and he said: Associating partners with Allah, killing a soul, and being undutiful to parents. And he said: Shall I not inform you of the greatest of sins? False testimony — or he said: false speech.'
