Hadith #317

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ وَرَجُلًا آخَرَ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ تَحَدَّثَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً فِي حَاجَةٍ لَهُمَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ سَاعَةٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ شَدِيدَةُ الظُّلْمَةِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَا مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْقَلِبَانِ وَبِيَدِ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عُصَيَّةٌ فَأَضَاءَتْ عَصَا أَحَدِهِمَا لَهُمَا حَتَّى مَشَيَا فِي ضَوْئِهَا حَتَّى إِذَا افْتَرَقَ بِهِمَا الطَّرِيقُ أَضَاءَتْ لِلْآخَرِ عَصَاهُ فَمَشَى كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا فِي ضَوْءِ عَصَاهُ حَتَّى بَلَغَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ
English Translation
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ma'mar informed us from Thabit, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) that Usayd ibn Hudayr and another man from the Ansar were conversing at the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night about a need of theirs, until late into the night. They left on a very dark night. Each of them had a staff, and one of their staffs lit up for them. They walked in its light. When their paths diverged, the other one's staff also lit up, and each of them walked in the light of his own staff until he reached his family.
