Hadith #443
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أ
َنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ آدَمَ تَرَكَهُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدَعَهُ فَجَعَلَ إِبْلِيسُ يُطِيفُ بِهِ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ أَجْوَفَ عَرَفَ أَنَّهُ خَلْقٌ لَا يَتَمَالَكُ

English Translation
Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas (رضي الله عنه), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When Allah عز وجل created Adam (عليه السلام), He left him as long as He willed. Then Iblis began circling around him, examining him. When he saw that he was hollow, he knew that he was a creation that would not have self-restraint.'
