English Translation
Hasan — meaning Ibn Musa — narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit and Humayd, from Anas (رضي الله عنه), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a white mule. He passed by a walled garden belonging to Banu al-Najjar, and suddenly the mule bolted and almost threw him. There were six or five graves there. He said: 'Who knows the occupants of these graves?' A man said: 'I do.' He said: 'When did they die?' He said: 'During the time of polytheism.' He said: 'This Ummah will be tested in their graves. Were it not that you would stop burying your dead, I would have asked Allah to let you hear the punishment of the grave that I hear.'
