حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلْمٍ الْعَلَوِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ وَعَلَيْهِ صُفْرَةٌ فَكَرِهَهَا فَلَمّ
َا قَامَ الرَّجُلُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِبَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ لَوْ أَمَرْتُمْ هَذَا أَنْ يَدَعَ هَذِهِ الصُّفْرَةَ قَالَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا قَالَ أَنَسٌ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَلَّمَا يُوَاجِهُ الرَّجُلَ بِشَيْءٍ يَكْرَهُهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ

English Translation
Aswad ibn 'Amir narrated to us, Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, from Salm al-'Alawi, that he heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) saying: A man entered upon the Prophet ﷺ and he had traces of yellow (perfume/dye) on him. the Prophet ﷺ disliked it. When the man stood to leave, the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you were to tell this man to wash this yellow off of himself.' He rarely said anything to a person's face that he disliked.
