حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْحَلْقَةِ وَرَجُلٌ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ وَسَجَدَ جَلَسَ وَتَشَهَّدَ ثُمَّ دَعَا فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْحَنَّانُ بَدِيعَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ
الْإِكْرَامِ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَدْرُونَ بِمَا دَعَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ دَعَا اللَّهَ بِاسْمِهِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى قَالَ عَفَّانُ دَعَا بِاسْمِهِ

English Translation
Husayn ibn Muhammad and 'Affan narrated to us, they said: Khalaf ibn Khalifah narrated to us, Hafs ibn 'Umar narrated to us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the gathering, and a man was standing praying. When he bowed, prostrated, and sat for the tashahhud, he supplicated. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'He has been hasty.' Then he called him — or the man was summoned — and said: 'When one of you prays, let him begin by praising Allah تعالى, then send salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ, then supplicate with whatever he wishes after that.'
