English Translation

Husayn narrated to us, Khalaf ibn Khalifah narrated to us, from Hafs, from his uncle Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: A household from the Ansar had a camel that they used for irrigation. The camel became difficult and refused to let them ride it. The Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'We have a camel used for irrigation that has become unruly and refuses to let us ride.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Take me to it.' They took him to it, and the Prophet ﷺ entered the garden. The camel came forward, prostrated before him, and the Prophet ﷺ took hold of its forelock. It was the most submissive it had ever been, until he led it to work. The people said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is an animal with no intellect that prostrates to you — should we not prostrate to you?' He said: 'It is not fitting for any human to prostrate to another human. If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband.'
