حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ يَعْنِي الْمِسْمَعِيَّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّه
ِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَلِأَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ يَوْمَانِ يَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمَا فَقَالَ قَدِمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَكُمْ يَوْمَانِ تَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَبْدَلَكُمْ يَوْمَيْنِ خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ وَيَوْمَ النَّحْرِ

English Translation
Sahl ibn Yusuf, meaning al-Misma'i, narrated to us, from Humayd — and Yazid ibn Harun informed us, Humayd informed us — from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah and the people of Madinah had two days in which they would play. He said: 'What are these two days?' They said: 'We used to play in them during the Jahiliyyah.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah has replaced them for you with two better days: the Day of Adha and the Day of Fitr.'
