Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلٌ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شُجَّ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَكَسَرُوا رَبَاعِيَتَهُ فَجَعَلَ يَمْسَحُ الدَّمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ كَيْفَ يُفْلِحُ قَوْمٌ خَضَّبُوا وَجْهَ نَبِيِّهِمْ بِالدَّمِ وَهُوَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَأُنْزِلَتْ { لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنْ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ }
English Translation
Sahl narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ was wounded on the day of Uhud. They broke his front tooth. He began wiping the blood from his face saying: 'How can a people who have stained the face of their prophet with blood succeed?' He was calling them to Allah while they were wounding him. Then Allah (عز وجل) revealed: 'Not for you is the decision' [3:128].
