حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَلَامٍ بَلَغَهُ مَقْدَمُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَتَاهُ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ قَالَ إِنِّي سَائِلُكَ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ لَا يَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ قَالَ مَا أَوَّلُ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ وَمَا أَوَّلُ ط
َعَامٍ يَأْكُلُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ وَمَا بَالُ الْوَلَدِ يَنْزِعُ إِلَى أَبِيهِ وَالْوَلَدِ يَنْزِعُ إِلَى أُمِّهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِنَّ جِبْرِيلُ آنِفًا قَالَ ابْنُ سَلَامٍ فَذَلِكَ عَدُوُّ الْيَهُودِ مِنْ الْمَلَائِكَةِ قَالَ أَمَّا أَوَّلُ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ فَنَارٌ تَحْشُرُهُمْ مِنْ الْمَشْرِقِ إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ وَأَوَّلُ طَعَامٍ يَأْكُلُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ زِيَادَةُ كَبِدِ حُوتٍ وَأَمَّا الْوَلَدُ فَإِذَا سَبَقَ مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ مَاءَ الْمَرْأَةِ نَزَعَ الْوَلَدَ وَإِذَا سَبَقَ مَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ مَاءَ الرَّجُلِ نَزَعَتْ الْوَلَدَ

English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) that 'Abdullah ibn Salam (رضي الله عنه) heard of the Prophet ﷺ's arrival in Madinah. He came and asked him about things, saying: 'I will ask you about three things that no one knows except a prophet. What is the first sign of the Hour? What is the first food the people of Paradise will eat? What makes a child resemble his father or mother?' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Jibril just informed me of these. The first sign of the Hour is a fire that gathers people from East to West. The first food the people of Paradise will eat is the extra lobe of fish liver. As for the child's resemblance: when the man has intercourse with his wife, if his water precedes hers, the child resembles him; and if her water precedes, the child resembles her.' He said: 'I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
