English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Humayd al-Tawil narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: When 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf came to Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ established brotherhood between him and Sa'd ibn al-Rabi'. Sa'd said: 'I will share my wealth with you half and half, and I have two wives — I will divorce one of them and when her waiting period ends, you can marry her.' 'Abd al-Rahman said: 'May Allah bless you in your family and wealth. Show me the way to the marketplace.' He went to the market and traded until he earned some dried yogurt and clarified butter. He came to the Prophet ﷺ having traces of yellow perfume. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'What is this?' He said: 'I married a woman from the Ansar.' He said: 'What did you give her as mahr?' He said: 'A date-stone's weight of gold.' He ﷺ said: 'Give a wedding feast, even if with just a sheep.'
