حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّازَّقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ أَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ حِينَ بَايَعَهُنَّ أَنْ لَ

ا يَنُحْنَ فَقُلْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ نِسَاءً أَسْعَدْنَنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَفَنُسْعِدُهُنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا إِسْعَادَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَا شِغَارَ وَلَا عَقْرَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَا جَلَبَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَا جَنَبَ وَمَنْ انْتَهَبَ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا

English Translation

Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrated: the Prophet ﷺ took a covenant from the women when they gave him their pledge of allegiance that they would not wail [over the dead]. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, there are women who helped us [wail during the pre-Islamic period]." the Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no such thing [reciprocation of wailing] in Islam."
