حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاصَلَ فِي آخِرِ الشَّهْ
رِ فَوَاصَلَ نَاسٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَوْ مُدَّ لَنَا الشَّهْرُ لَوَاصَلْتُ وِصَالًا يَدَعُ الْمُتَعَمِّقُونَ تَعَمُّقَهُمْ إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

English Translation
Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrated: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ practiced wisal [continuous fasting without breaking] at the end of the month, and some people also practiced wisal. When the Prophet ﷺ learned of this, he said: "If the month were extended for me, I would have continued wisal so that those who practice it excessively would abandon it. I am not like any of you — my Lord feeds me and gives me to drink."
