English Translation

Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrated: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sprained his foot and sat in an upper room whose staircase was made of palm trunks. He also swore to keep away from his wives for a month. His Companions came to visit him, and he prayed for them sitting while they stood behind him. When he finished, he said: "The imam is appointed to be followed. When he says 'Allahu Akbar,' say 'Allahu Akbar.' When he prostrates, prostrate. When he rises, rise. When he says 'sami' Allahu liman hamidah,' say 'Rabbana lakal hamd.' And when he prays sitting, pray sitting — all of you."
