حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ أَعْطَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَنَائِمِ حُنَيْنٍ الْأَقْرَعَ بْنَ حَابِسٍ مِائَةً مِنْ الْإِبِلِ وَعُيَيْنَةَ بْنَ حِصْنٍ مِائَةً مِنْ الْإِبِلِ فَقَالَ نَاسٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ يُعْطِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَائِمَنَا نَاسًا تَقْطُرُ سُيُوفُهُمْ مِنْ دِمَائِنَا أَوْ تَقْطُرُ سُيُوفُنَا مِنْ دِمَائِهِمْ فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِكَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى الْأَنْصَارِ
فَقَالَ هَلْ فِيكُمْ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ قَالُوا لَا إِلَّا ابْنُ أُخْتٍ لَنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ أَقُلْتُمْ كَذَا وَكَذَا أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالدُّنْيَا وَتَذْهَبُونَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ إِلَى دِيَارِكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَخَذَ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا أَوْ شِعْبًا أَخَذْتُ وَادِيَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَوْ شِعْبَهُمْ الْأَنْصَارُ كَرِشِي وَعَيْبَتِي وَلَوْلَا الْهِجْرَةُ لَكُنْتُ امْرَأً مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ

English Translation
Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrated: the Prophet ﷺ gave al-Aqra' ibn Habis one hundred camels from the spoils of Hunayn, and 'Uyaynah ibn Hisn one hundred camels. Some men of the Ansar said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gives to Quraysh while our swords are still dripping with their blood!" the Prophet ﷺ was told of this. He gathered the Ansar and said: "Have I not found you astray and Allah guided you through me? Divided and Allah united you through me? Destitute and Allah enriched you through me?" Every time he asked, they said: "Allah and His Messenger are most gracious." He said: "If you wished, you could say: 'You came to us discredited and we believed you, abandoned and we helped you...' Are you not pleased that the people go with sheep and camels while you return with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to your homes? Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been a man of the Ansar. If the people took one valley and the Ansar took another, I would take the valley of the Ansar." They wept until their beards were wet, and they said: "We are pleased with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as our share and lot."
