حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَهْطًا مِنْ عُكْلٍ أَوْ عُرَيْنَةَ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا أَهْلَ ضَرْعٍ وَلَمْ نَكُنْ أَهْلَ رِيفٍ فَاسْتَوْخَمُوا الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَمَرَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَوْدٍ وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا فِيهَا فَيَشْرَبُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا وَأَبْوَالِهَا فَقَتَلُوا رَاعِيَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاسْتَاقُوا الذَّوْدَ وَكَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي طَلَبِهِمْ فَأُتِيَ بِهِمْ فَقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَرْجُلَهُمْ وَسَمَرَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي الْحَرَّةِ حَتَّى مَاتُوا
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), that a group from 'Ukl or 'Uraynah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we were people of livestock, not of agriculture.' They found the climate of Madinah disagreeable. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them to go to camels and drink their milk and urine. They did so until their bodies became healthy. Then they killed the herder and drove away the camels. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent riders after them. They were brought back, and he had their hands and feet cut off and their eyes branded, and they were left in al-Harrah — asking for water but not being given any, until they died.
