حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ هِشَامَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ جَد

ِّي أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ دَارَ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ فَإِذَا قَوْمٌ قَدْ نَصَبُوا دَجَاجَةً يَرْمُونَهَا فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُصْبَرَ الْبَهَائِمُ

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj narrated to us, they said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Hisham ibn Zayd ibn Anas ibn Malik saying: I entered with my grandfather Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) into the house of al-Hakam ibn Ayyub, and there were people who had set up a chicken as a target and were shooting at it. Anas said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited using living creatures as targets.'
