حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي الْأَنْصَارِيَّ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ { لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ } أَوْ قَالَ { مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا } قَالَ جَاءَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُول
َ اللَّهِ حَائِطِي الَّذِي بِمَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَلَوْ اسْتَطَعْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنْ أُسِرَّهُ لَمْ أُعْلِنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اجْعَلْهُ فِي فُقَرَاءِ قَرَابَتِكَ أَوْ قَالَ فِي فُقَرَاءِ أَهْلِكَ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah, meaning al-Ansari, narrated to us, Humayd narrated to us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: When this verse was revealed: 'Never will you attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love' [3:92] — or he said: 'Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan?' [2:245] — Abu Talhah (رضي الله عنه) came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my most beloved property to me is Bayruha', and it is a charity for Allah. I hope for its reward and its stored treasure with Allah, so dispose of it wherever Allah shows you.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Well done! That is a profitable property — or a rewarding property. I have heard what you said, and I think you should distribute it among your relatives.' Abu Talhah said: 'I shall do so, O Messenger of Allah.' So he distributed it among his relatives and cousins.
