Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
رَأَيْتُ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي رِجَالًا تُقْرَضُ شِفَاهُهُمْ بِمَقَارِيضَ مِنْ نَارٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا جِبْرِيلُ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ قَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ خُطَبَاءُ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ يَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَيَنْسَوْنَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ

English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jud'an, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'On the night I was taken on the Night Journey, I saw men whose lips were being cut with scissors of fire. I said: O Jibril, who are these? He said: These are the preachers from your ummah who used to command people to do good while forgetting themselves, and they used to recite the Book. Do they not use their reason?'
