English Translation
Rawh narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) that one day they asked the Prophet ﷺ of Allah (ﷺ) until they pressed him with too many questions. He came out one day and ascended the minbar and said: 'Ask me — you will not ask me about anything except that I will inform you of it as long as I am in this place.' A man stood and said: 'Where is my entrance?' — meaning to Paradise or Hellfire. He (ﷺ) said: 'The Fire.' Another man stood — and he was a man whose lineage was questioned — and said: 'Who is my father?' He said: 'Your father is Hudhayfah.' Then 'Umar stood and said: 'We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, Islam as our religion, and Muhammad as our Prophet. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of trials.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I have never seen good and evil like today. Paradise and Hellfire were shown to me until I saw them beyond this wall.'
