حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَازَ ذَلِكَ

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us; and Hajjaj said: Shu'bah narrated to me, he said: I heard Qatadah narrating from Anas ibn Malik that Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf married a woman with a dowry of a date-stone's weight of gold. the Prophet ﷺ saw traces of yellow perfume on him and said: "What is this?" He said: 'I married a woman with a date-stone's weight of gold.' He ﷺ said: "May Allah bless you. Hold a wedding feast, even if with just a sheep."
