English Translation
Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thabit informed us, from Anas (رضي الله عنه), that Abu Talhah was shooting arrows in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Uhud, while the Prophet ﷺ was behind him shielding himself with him. Abu Talhah was a strong archer, and he broke two or three bows that day. Whenever a man passed by carrying a quiver of arrows, the Prophet ﷺ would say: 'Spread them out for Abu Talhah.' the Prophet ﷺ would raise his head to look, and Abu Talhah would say: 'May my father and mother be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah! Do not raise your head lest an arrow strike you. My chest before your chest.'
