Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَخَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ
فَأَطَالَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ فَأَطَالَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّيْتَ فَجَعَلْتَ تُطِيلُ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ وَتُخَفِّفُ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ قَالَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ فَعَلْتُ مَا فَعَلْتُ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Bahz narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, he said: Thumamah ibn Abdullah ibn Anas informed us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — his Companions came to him one night and he went out and led them in prayer, but he made it brief. Then he entered his house and prayed a long prayer. When morning came, they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you made the prayer brief last night.' He said: 'I heard the crying of a child, and I feared that his mother would be distressed, so I made it brief.'
