Hadith #189
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ عَصَمُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'I will fight the people until they say: La ilaha illallah. When they say it, their blood and wealth are protected from me except by its right, and their account is with Allah (عز وجل).' Then he recited: 'Indeed, you are only a reminder. You are not over them a controller' [88:21-22].
