حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْتَعِينُهُ فِي دَيْنٍ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِي قَالَ فَقَالَ آتِيكُمْ قَالَ فَرَجَعْتُ فَقُلْتُ لِلْمَرْأَةِ لَا تُكَلِّمِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا تَسْأَلِيهِ قَالَ فَأَتَانَا فَذَبَحْنَا لَهُ دَاجِنً
ا كَانَ لَنَا فَقَالَ يَا جَابِرُ كَأَنَّكُمْ عَرَفْتُمْ حُبَّنَا اللَّحْمَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ قَالَتْ لَهُ الْمَرْأَةُ صَلِّ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى زَوْجِي أَوْ صَلِّ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا أَلَيْسَ قَدْ نَهَيْتُكِ قَالَتْ تَرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْنَا وَلَا يَدْعُو لَنَا

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Nubayh, from Jabir (رضي الله عنهما), who said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ seeking his help with a debt that was upon my father. He said: 'I will come to you.' So I returned and told the woman [my wife]: 'Do not say anything to embarrass me before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' When the Prophet ﷺ came, he walked among the date palms and said: 'Harvest and pay off [the debt].' The dates were harvested, the debt was paid, and there was still some left over.
