English Translation
Yahya narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik, 'Ata' narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "I attended the prayer with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Eid. He began with the prayer before the khutbah, without adhan or iqamah. When he finished the prayer, he stood leaning on Bilal, and he praised Allah and extolled Him, and admonished the people, reminding them and urging them to obey Allah. Then he went to the women and admonished them and reminded them. He said: 'Give charity, for most of you are the fuel of Hell.' A woman of dark complexion from among them stood and said: 'Why, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Because you complain much and are ungrateful to your husbands.' They began taking off their jewelry — their earrings and rings — throwing them into Bilal's garment, giving in charity."
