English Translation

Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us who said: I asked Jabir about the lizard (dabb). He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought one, and he said: 'I will not eat it,' and he found it repulsive. Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has not declared it unlawful.' And Umar ate from it while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was looking on.
