English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us who said: I asked Jabir about a mouse that dies in food or drink — do I eat it? He said: No. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rebuked that. We used to place a cat in the storage area [to hunt mice], and we would drink [the milk] that the cat had approached and the food [it had accessed], because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'It is not impure; it is among the frequent roamers (tawwafin) and roameresses (tawwafat) among you.'
