English Translation

Abu Qatan narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه) who said: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on an intensely hot day. He led his companions in prayer and prolonged the standing until they began to fall down. Then he bowed and prolonged the bowing, then raised his head and prolonged the standing, then bowed again and prolonged the bowing, then prostrated two prostrations. Then he stood and did similarly, making four bowings and four prostrations. Then he said: 'All of these things were displayed before me, and Paradise was shown to me until, had I reached out, I could have taken a cluster of its grapes for you. And the Fire was shown to me, and I saw therein a woman being punished on account of a cat she had confined until it died, neither feeding it nor letting it eat from the vermin of the earth.'
