Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَطْعِمُهُ فَأَطْعَمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّه
ِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسْقَ شَعِيرٍ فَمَا زَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ هُوَ وَامْرَأَتُهُ وَوَصِيفٌ لَهُمْ حَتَّى كَالُوهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ لَمْ تَكِيلُوهُ لَأَكَلْتُمْ مِنْهُ وَلَقَامَ لَكُمْ

English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه), who said: "A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asking for food. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him half a wasq (a measure) of barley. He and his wife continued eating from it. Then he measured it and found it had not decreased. He went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you had not measured it, you would have continued eating from it, and it would have remained for you.'"
