حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ شِنْظِيرٍ
عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَمِّرُوا الْآنِيَةَ وَأَوْكِئُوا الْأَسْقِيَةَ وَأَجِيفُوا الْبَابَ وَأَطْفِئُوا الْمَصَابِيحَ عِنْدَ الرُّقَادِ فَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ رُبَّمَا اجْتَرَّتْ الْفَتِيلَةَ فَأَحْرَقَتْ الْبَيْتَ وَأَكْفِتُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ عِنْدَ الْمَسَاءِ فَإِنَّ لِلْجِنِّ انْتِشَارًا وَخَطْفَةً

English Translation
Ishaq ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Kathir ibn Shinzir, from 'Ata', from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Cover the vessels, tie the mouths of the water-skins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamps at night. For indeed Shaytan does not untie a water-skin, nor open a door, nor uncover a vessel. If one of you cannot find anything except a stick to lay across his vessel while mentioning the name of Allah, then let him do so. For indeed the little mouse may set the house ablaze over its sleeping inhabitants.'
