English Translation
Ishaq ibn 'Isa narrated to us, he said: Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, from Kathir ibn Shinzir, from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Prophet ﷺ sent me on an errand. When I returned, I came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him, but he did not respond to my greeting. I felt such distress in my heart as only Allah knows. I said to myself: 'Perhaps the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is upset with me because I was slow.' I greeted him again, and he did not respond. Then I greeted him a third time, and he responded and said: 'I was praying' — and he was upon his mount, facing a direction other than the qiblah.
