‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏أَنَا أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِأَهْلِهِ وَمَنْ تَرَكَ دَيْنًا أَوْ ضَيَاعًا فَإِلَيَّ وَعَلَيَّ وَأَنَا أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ ‏

English Translation

And he (the Prophet ﷺ) used to say: "I am closer to the believers than their own selves. Whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his family. And whoever leaves behind a debt or dependents, it is upon me and my responsibility. And I am the closest to the believers."
