Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ وَغَيْرُهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِد
ٌ عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يَهْدُوكُمْ وَقَدْ ضَلُّوا فَإِنَّكُمْ إِمَّا أَنْ تُصَدِّقُوا بِبَاطِلٍ أَوْ تُكَذِّبُوا بِحَقٍّ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ مُوسَى حَيًّا بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِكُمْ مَا حَلَّ لَهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَّبِعَنِي

English Translation
Yunus and others narrated to us, they said: Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, Mujalid narrated to us, from 'Amir al-Sha'bi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever has an umm walad (a slave who has borne his child), she is not to be sold, nor given as a gift, nor inherited. He benefits from her during his life, and when he dies, she is free.'"
