حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كَسَعَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَاجْتَمَعَ قَوْمُ ذَا وَقَوْمُ ذَا وَقَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا
لَلْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَقَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا لَلْأَنْصَارِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ دَعُوهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُنْتِنَةٌ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا مَا بَالُ دَعْوَى أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَلَا مَا بَالُ دَعْوَى أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ

English Translation
Yunus narrated to us, Hammad — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "A man from the Muhajirun kicked a man from the Ansar. The people gathered and nearly fought, the Muhajir calling: 'O Muhajirun!' and the Ansari calling: 'O Ansar!' the Prophet ﷺ came out and said: 'The call of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic tribalism)! Leave it, for it is foul.' 'Abdullah ibn Ubayy said: 'By Allah, when we return to Madinah, the mighty will expel the lowly from it.' That reached the Prophet ﷺ, and 'Umar said: 'Let me strike the neck of this hypocrite.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Leave him, lest people say that Muhammad kills his companions.'"
