Hadith #95
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بِلَالٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَوْ حَدَّثَهُ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَابِرِ
بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُ قَالَ قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ قَالَ فَطَافَ سَبْعًا وَرَمَلَ مِنْهَا ثَلَاثًا وَمَشَى أَرْبَعًا

English Translation
Abu Salamah al-Khuza'i informed us, Sulayman — meaning Ibn Bilal — informed him, Ja'far ibn Muhammad narrated to him, from his father, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) — he heard it from him — who said: We arrived with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [in Makkah for Hajj], and we were saying: 'Labbayk Allahumma labbayk bil-Hajj.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to make it an Umrah. He said: 'Had I known beforehand what I know now, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal, and I would have made it an Umrah. So whoever among you does not have a sacrificial animal, let him exit ihram and make it an Umrah.' So we did that.
