Hadith #101
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ
سَلَّمَ فَخَطَّ خَطًّا هَكَذَا أَمَامَهُ فَقَالَ هَذَا سَبِيلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَخَطَّيْنِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَخَطَّيْنِ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ قَالَ هَذِهِ سَبِيلُ الشَّيْطَانِ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِي الْخَطِّ الْأَسْوَدِ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ { وَأَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ ذَلِكُمْ وَصَّاكُمْ بِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ }

English Translation
'Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه) who said: We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when he drew a line in front of him and said: 'This is the path of Allah.' He drew two lines to its right and two to its left, and said: 'These are the paths of Shaytan.' Then he placed his hand on the middle line and recited: 'And this is My straight path, so follow it; and do not follow other ways, for they will separate you from His path.'
