English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn Hasan ibn 'Ali, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man over whom shade was being provided. He said: 'He is not of (the virtue of) fasting for this one to shade himself.' Meaning, this is not how one should fast — he should endure the hardship.
