Hadith #129

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ أَنَّهُ قِيلَ لَهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مَنْ هَاجَرَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَا أَدْخُلُ مَنْزِلِي حَتَّى آتِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَسْأَلَهُ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ ه
َذَا سَرَقَ خَمِيصَةً لِي لِرَجُلٍ مَعَهُ فَأَمَرَ بِقَطْعِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَإِنِّي قَدْ وَهَبْتُهَا لَهُ قَالَ فَهَلَّا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِي بِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مَنْ هَاجَرَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا هِجْرَةَ بَعْدَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ وَلَكِنْ جِهَادٌ وَنِيَّةٌ فَإِذَا اسْتُنْفِرْتُمْ فَانْفِرُوا

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Wuhayb narrated to us, Ibn Tawus narrated to us, from his father, from Safwan ibn Umayyah, that it was said to him: 'No one will enter Paradise except those who emigrated.' He said: I said: 'I will not enter my house until I go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So I went to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, they claim that no one will enter Paradise except those who emigrated.' He ﷺ said: 'There is no emigration after the conquest of Makkah, but there is jihad and intention. When you are called to go forth, go forth.'
