English Translation
Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiyah, from 'Uthman ibn Abi Sulayman, who said: Safwan ibn Umayyah said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me while I was feeding my son by hand — meaning putting food into his mouth — and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Have you taken charge of him?' I said: 'Yes.' He ﷺ said: 'Do you love him?' I said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah, may Allah love you as I love him.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Truly, Allah loves him more than you love him.'
