English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, he said: I heard Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, from Hakim ibn Hizam (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The upper hand is better than the lower hand. Begin with those you are responsible for. Whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient. Whoever seeks contentment, Allah will make him content. Whoever seeks to refrain from asking, Allah will make him independent.'
