English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Wasil al-Ahdab, from Abu Wa'il who said: I sat with Shaybah ibn 'Uthman and he said: ''Umar ibn al-Khattab sat in this very seat of yours and said: "I have a mind to not leave in the Ka'bah any gold or silver except that I distribute it in the way of Allah." I said: "You cannot do that." He said: "Why not?" I said: "Your two companions [the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr] did not do so." He said: "They are the two who are to be followed."'
