حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ ب
ْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ أَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَصُومَ عَاشُورَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ صِيَامُ رَمَضَانَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ صِيَامُ رَمَضَانَ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from al-Qasim ibn Mukhaymirah, from Abu 'Ammar, from Qays ibn Sa'd who said: 'the Prophet ﷺ commanded us to fast 'Ashura before the fasting of Ramadan was prescribed. When Ramadan was prescribed, he did not command us and did not prohibit us from it, and we would do it.'
