English Translation

Ḥajjāj narrated to us: al-Shuʿaythī narrated to us, from Zufar ibn Wathīmah, from Ḥakīm ibn Ḥizām (رضي الله عنه) who said: 'In mosques, poetry is not to be recited, legal punishments are not to be carried out, and retaliation is not to be executed.' His father [Aḥmad] said: Ḥajjāj did not raise it [i.e., did not attribute it to the Prophet ﷺ, meaning it is reported as Ḥakīm's own statement in this chain].
