حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ وَالْمُبَارَكُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى الل
َّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِأَسِيرٍ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ وَلَا أَتُوبُ إِلَى مُحَمَّدٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَرَفَ الْحَقَّ لِأَهْلِهِ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Muṣʿab narrated to us: Sallām ibn Miskīn and al-Mubārak narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, from al-Aswad ibn Sarīʿ (رضي الله عنه) that a captive was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'O Allāh, I repent to You and I do not repent to Muḥammad.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'He has recognized the right where it belongs.'
