English Translation

Ismāʿīl narrated to us, from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, from Abū Qilābah, from Mālik ibn al-Ḥuwayirth (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ said to him and to a companion of his: 'When the time for prayer comes, give the adhān and the iqāmah' — and he said on one occasion: 'give the iqāmah — and let the elder of you lead the prayer.'
