حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ الْحُ

بْرَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَلَا تَغْلُوا فِيهِ وَلَا تَجْفُوا عَنْهُ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا بِهِ وَلَا تَسْتَكْثِرُوا بِهِ

English Translation

ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us: Hammām narrated to us: Yaḥyā narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Sallām, from his grandfather, from Abū Rāshid al-Ḥubrānī, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Shibl (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Recite the Quran but do not be excessive with it, do not neglect it, do not eat by means of it, and do not seek to increase [worldly gain] through it.'
