Hadith #59
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي جَابِرٌ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَثَلُ الْمَدِينَةِ كَالْكِيرِ وَحَرَّمَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَكَّةَ وَأَنَا أُحَرِّمُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهِيَ كَمَكَّةَ حَرَامٌ مَا بَيْنَ حَرَّتَيْهَا
وَحِمَاهَا كُلُّهَا لَا يُقْطَعُ مِنْهَا شَجَرَةٌ إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْلِفَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهَا وَلَا يَقْرَبُهَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ الطَّاعُونُ وَلَا الدَّجَّالُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ يَحْرُسُونَهَا عَلَى أَنْقَابِهَا وَأَبْوَابِهَا قَالَ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ يَحْمِلُ فِيهَا سِلَاحًا لِقِتَالٍ

English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed us, and Jabir informed me that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The parable of Madinah is like the bellows.' And: 'Ibrahim (عليه السلام) declared Makkah sacred, and I declare Madinah sacred between its two lava fields — its trees are not to be cut, and its game is not to be hunted.'
