حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ كَانَ لِأَبِي شُعَيْبٍ غُلَامٌ لَحَّامٌ فَلَمَّا رَأَى مَا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ مِنْ الْجَهْدِ أَمَرَ غُلَامَهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ لَهُ طَعَامًا يَكْفِي خَمْسَةً فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ ائْتِنَا خَامِسَ خَمْ
سَةٍ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاتَّبَعَهُ رَجُلٌ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيَا إِلَى بَابِهِ قَالَ إِنَّكَ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيَّ أَنْ آتِيَكَ خَامِسَ خَمْسَةٍ وَإِنَّ هَذَا قَدْ اتَّبَعَنَا فَإِنْ أَذِنْتَ لَهُ دَخَلَ وَإِلَّا رَجَعَ قَالَ فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَذِنْتُ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَدَخَلَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ

English Translation
Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه) who said: Abu Shu'ayb had a servant who was a butcher. When he saw the exhaustion on the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he ordered his servant to prepare food sufficient for five people, for he recognized hunger on the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He invited the Prophet ﷺ. A sixth man followed them, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Abu Shu'ayb, this one has followed us. If you wish, permit him, and if you wish, send him back.' Abu Shu'ayb said: 'Rather, I permit him.'
